Football Saturday

Once again it is football time. After a respectable win last week over a team that was not particularly good, we have a real test this week. As with all seasons, week 2 is against rival Georgia. They are usually ranked in the top 15 and this year is no exception. Ranked #9, Georgia was favored to beat us by 17 points. I thought this was crazy. Certainly we are better than that right?

Right. We lost by 2 points. 17-15. I'm a little torn. First, I'm not a big fan of moral victories, but I also know that we are a very young team and are beginning a rebuilding process. So in some ways, losing by 2 points to the 9th best team in the country ought to be pretty positive. Heres the tricky part though. Its not like we just got beat and managed to make it close though. We actually had a few opportunities to win that we blew. So I'm a little frustrated. There are some mistakes that we made that we shouldn't have made. And those mistakes may have cost us the game. That said. I wan't really positive we would have as much of a chance to win as we did.

All and all, I am quite pleased. We look pretty good, and I have great confidence in the rest of the season. And, considering that most of our skill players are freshmen and sophmores, I have a whole lot of confidence in the next couple of seasons. Sweet.

Errrrr I wanted this game though.
